Group members export
Download the member list of a WhatsApp group as a CSV file. Enter the group's name, and Wbiztool opens the group on your connected WhatsApp number and collects each member's name, phone number and role.
Before you start#
- A plan that includes group members export.
- A WhatsApp number connected on WhatsApp settings that is a member of the group. You can only export groups that number belongs to.
- The exact name of the group as it appears in WhatsApp.
- You must be an owner or editor of the workspace to start, download or delete exports.
Export a group's members#
Open Group Members Export
In the sidebar, open Tools and click Group Members Export, or go to Group Members Export.
Enter the group name
Type the name in Group Name: exactly as it appears in WhatsApp, including emoji and punctuation. Upper and lower case don't need to match.
The How It Works window in the dashboard says the search is case-sensitive. It isn't, but emoji, spaces and punctuation must match exactly.
Choose the WhatsApp account
If you have more than one connected number, pick the one that is in the group under WhatsApp Account. With a single connected number, it's selected for you.
Start the search
Click Start Search. The export appears in All Group Searches with the status Pending. The page notes that a search usually takes 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the size of the group.
Download the members
When the status is Completed, click the download button in the Actions column, or open the details (eye button) and click Download Members.
The number under Start Search (N searches remaining) is the number of searches included in your plan. It doesn't count down as you use them.
Search statuses#
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for your WhatsApp number to open the group. |
| Completed | Members were collected and can be downloaded. |
| Failed | WhatsApp opened a chat, but the members couldn't be read. The details show the error. The most common one is Group "<name>" not found: WhatsApp's search opened a similar chat, but no group has exactly that name. Check the spelling and try again. |
| Invalid Group Name | No group with that name was found, the group couldn't be opened, or the WhatsApp number disconnected while the search was running. Check the number is connected, then start a new search. |
View details#
Click the eye button on any search to see:
- The search number, status, creation time, WhatsApp account and group name.
- For completed searches: Statistics (Total Members, With Phone Numbers, Admins, Resolution Rate), Group Information (description, creation date, owner, whether Announce Only or All Members Can Post, and whether it's Restricted or Open) and Sample Members, the first 10 members.
- For Failed searches, the error message.
Searches marked Invalid Group Name show no error message in the details. Use the troubleshooting table below.
Download format#
The file is a CSV named group_members_<group name>_<search number>.csv, with one row per member:

| Phone Number | The number with country code. Empty when WhatsApp doesn't reveal the member's number. |

| Role | member, admin or super_admin. |
| Is Admin | Yes or No. |
| Is Super Admin | Yes or No. |
With Phone Numbers in the details tells you how many rows have a phone number.
Delete a search#
You can delete searches that ended as Failed or Invalid Group Name, and completed searches that found no members. Click the delete button in Actions and confirm. Deleting is permanent. Completed searches with members can't be deleted.
Troubleshooting#

| Invalid Group Name | Check the spelling, spaces and emoji, that the selected number is still a member of the group, and that the number is still connected. |
| Invalid Group Name for a group where only admins can send messages | Such groups can't be opened for export unless your number is an admin of the group. |
| The wrong group was exported | If two of your groups share the same name, rename one in WhatsApp so the name is unique. |
| Search stays Pending | The selected number must stay connected. Searches also wait while that number is busy sending messages. |
Download opens a page of raw text containing Access denied. Only organization owners and editors can download group member search results. | Your role is Analyst. Ask the workspace owner for editor access, or to download the file for you. |
